The Timberlyne Touch at Clydesdale Outpost, A Vision Brought to Life

For that, they turned to Timberlyne, a company renowned for its artistry and reverence for the enduring spirit and rugged elegance of the iconic American barn. With every timber beam and hand crafted joint, Timberlyne helped shape a retreat that feels both rooted in tradition and also designed for modern comfort.

“Our vision was to create a destination that felt both timeless and awe inspiring,” Matt explains. “We wanted every structure to be a statement piece, capturing a vintage yet bold aesthetic.”

And indeed, every detail at Clydesdale Outpost speaks to that intention. The sweeping timber framed barns and welcoming guest cabins all stand as testaments to what is possible when vision and innovation meet.

A COLLABORATION ROOTED IN CRAFTSMANSHIP

Matt and Ben’s journey with Timberlyne began in 2017, long before the first beams were raised in Montana. When searching for the perfect timber frame barn for their first property in Amboy, Washington, they were drawn to Timberlyne’s reputation for precision, authenticity, and an artistry that stands the test of time. So, when they boldly decided to sell everything and start anew in Montana, there was no question who would help them build it.

Timberlyne is not just a company they are partners in creation,” Matt says. “Every structure at Clydesdale Outpost was custom designed, and they worked alongside us to ensure every detail reflected the story we were creating.”

This partnership is not unique to Clydesdale Outpost. Across the country, Timberlyne has collaborated with visionaries, landowners, and dreamers to bring extraordinary spaces to life. From rustic family lodges in the Rockies to equestrian estates in the rolling hills of Texas, their work is built to last both structurally and in the memories of those who call these places home.

At Clydesdale Outpost, Timberlyne’s craftsmanship is woven into the very fabric of the retreat, ensuring that the structures do not just house experiences they become an inseparable part of them.

DESIGNING AN EXPERIENCE: THE CABINS & BARN

One of the most striking features of Clydesdale Outpost is its collection of cabins, which entice guests from coast to coast. These 740 square foot sanctuaries feel cozy and expansive at once. Timberlyne’s soaring timber beams create a sense of grandeur, while the carefully curated materials and textures ensure warmth and intimacy.

“Every person who walks into the cabins has the same reaction a moment of pure awe,” Matt shares. “The timber beams are monumental, grounding the space with their strength and beauty. The open concept living area, with its cathedral like presence, takes people’s breath away. It’s an atmosphere that can’t quite be put into words it must be felt.”

Beyond the cabins, the heart of the Clydesdale Outpost beats in the barn a space designed not just to house but to honor its four legged residents. Here, Timberlyne’s craftsmanship extends beyond aesthetics; it embraces function by creating a haven where Clydesdales live as they were meant to together, unconfined, and at ease. High ceilings invite the mountain air to circulate, oversized openings frame the sweeping landscape every design element mirroring the grace and scale of these magnificent creatures.

“Clydesdales are majestic and massive creatures, and their well being was paramount in our barn’s design,” Matt explains. “Timberlyne worked with us to ensure the dimensions accommodated their size high ceilings, oversized openings, and thoughtfully placed spaces that allow for natural movement.”

At Clydesdale Outpost, timber craftsmanship bridges past and present, wilderness and warmth, adventure and home. This dedication to enduring design is at the heart of Timberlyne a company founded on the vision of reviving a disappearing legacy.

FROM A NEBRASKA DRIVEWAY TO A NATIONAL LEGACY

Timberlyne’s story began in a Nebraska driveway with a simple yet powerful vision: to rebuild the countryside with the grand wooden barns that once defined rural America. The founders saw history fading barns collapsing, their stories lost to time and knew they wanted to bring that heritage back to life. The challenge? They had no experience building them.

What they did have was an unshakable belief in their idea. From day one, Timberlyne operated on a national scale, sending its structures across the country. But scaling was not just about reach; it was about redefining the process. By pioneering a kit based model where Timberlyne designs and manufactures the frame, then ships it for others to assemble they unlocked a level of flexibility and efficiency that set them apart. This approach allowed them to grow exponentially, with structures now standing in nearly every state.

While Timberlyne’s mission has remained the same Building Dreams; Connecting Lives the ways people use their structures have evolved far beyond the traditional barn. Today, their signature timber frames have become homes, cabins, event venues, airplane hangars anything and everything that benefits from their striking aesthetic and enduring strength.

BUILT TO LAST: TIMBERLYNE’S PROCESS & PRODUCT

At the heart of Timberlyne’s craft lies a seamless blend of tradition and innovation where time honored techniques meet cutting edge precision. Every Timberlyne structure begins as a vision, whether a detailed blueprint, a sketch on a napkin, or a collection of inspiration photos. Some clients start with Timberlyne’s flexible pre designs, which serve as a foundation for customization, while others come with entirely bespoke concepts. Regardless of how they begin, they each unfold into something unique.

Timberlyne’s approach to post and beam construction is as versatile as it is lasting. Clients can choose from a range of joinery methods from traditional mortise and tenon to more modern metal plate connections. Unlike many timber frame structures that require specialized knowledge to build, Timberlyne’s kit based system makes construction accessible even for builders unfamiliar with timber framing. Additionally, Timberlyne’s dedicated support staff ensures builders have the guidance and expertise to see every project through with confidence.

As Matt observes, “Their genuine care for their clients sets them apart.” Timberlyne’s commitment to partnership from concept to completion is why so many clients, like Matt and Ben, return to them time after time.

STRENGTH IN THE STORM: TIMBERLYNE’S PEOPLE & RESILIENCE

Undoubtedly, the commitment Timberlyne shows to its customers reflects the commitment the team has to one another. In 2013, an EF-4 tornado tore through Nebraska, leaving Timberlyne’s manufacturing facility in ruins. It was an unimaginable setback, one that could have crippled the company’s momentum. But what followed was a testament to Timberlyne’s true foundation not just timber and steel, but resilience, adaptability, and an unshakable team spirit.

The storm struck on a Friday. By Saturday morning, employees rallied, showing up in force, ready to rebuild. Within a month, Timberlyne had secured temporary facilities and resumed full production. Customers remained patient, employees remained committed, and the company emerged stronger than ever—proving that its greatest strength lies not just in the structures it builds, but in the people behind them.

As it turns out, resilience and flexibility are not just words at Timberlyne; they are embedded in their cultural DNA. The company’s values creativity, passion, professionalism, respect, and empathy shape everything they do. Rooted in rural America, they understand and embody the work ethic of the communities they serve where hard work is expected, showing up for one another is second nature, and trust is earned through actions, not words.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

For Matt and Ben, that trust has only grown. The success of Clydesdale Outpost has fueled their vision for expansion, and once again, Timberlyne is their trusted partner. Together, they are embarking on their most formidable addition yet, as Matt shares, “a larger, statement piece Clydesdale barn one of the most ambitious structures and, we believe, one of the most impressive barns on the West Coast.”

But that is not all. They are also partnering on an event barn complete with an old fashioned water wheel designed for weddings and special gatherings, along with eight new cabins, including two and three bedroom options, to meet increasing demand.

Matt reflects, “If you are looking for a partner who values precision, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Timberlyne is unparalleled. Their communication is impeccable, their craftsmanship is extraordinary, and they consistently exceed expectations. Our journey with them has been nothing short of inspiring, and we look forward to building with them for many years to come.”

With every beam raised and every space designed, Timberlyne is doing more than building barns they are building dreams. Through each project, they strengthen connections between people, places, and possibilities, ensuring their legacy stands as proudly as the structures they create.
