MANY ATTRIBUTE THEIR ELEVATED LIFESTYLE TO BLUE RIBBON BUILDERS, A FAMILY-OWNED FIRM THAT HELPED PUT THE ‘BIG’ IN BIG SKY 50 YEARS AGO AND HAS SINCE EARNED A REPUTATION AS THE REGION’S PREMIER LIFESTYLE CRAFTERS.

Blue Ribbon Builders
Known for its luxury legacy mountain properties, Blue Ribbon Builders embraces technological innovation for the express purpose of creating custom lifestyle homes, literally helping clients to live their best lives. Incorporating client-centric and recreational wellness, Principals Peter Bing, Luke Bing, and Brandon Wier continue Blue Ribbon’s reputation for building foundations as strong as their relationships and recognize the growing trend toward incorporating wellness as infrastructure.
“The ultimate luxury in living is having everything customized to you, your family, and your goals,” says Peter, adding that “today’s high-end homebuyers are increasingly gravitating toward dwellings that provide healthy lifestyles in all realms: physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual.”
The firm’s bespoke solutions for clients’ needs have included chefs’ kitchens, bowling alleys, hidden speakeasies, home theatres and recording studios, wine caves, shooting ranges, batting cages, ski-in/ski-out access paths, trophy rooms, cattle operation facilities, golf simulator rooms, and aircraft landing strips, as well as yoga and workout rooms, soundproof meditation areas, saunas, spas, oxygen-enhanced bedrooms, and spa-inspired bathrooms.

“TODAY’S HIGH-END HOMEBUYERS ARE INCREASINGLY GRAVITATING TOWARD DWELLINGS THAT PROVIDE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES IN ALL REALMS: PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, RELATIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL.”
Blue Ribbon Builders views wellness as an integrated framework that enhances how a home is lived in, cared for, and enjoyed over time. They understand that recreational activities and amenities such as lap pools, hot tubs, cold plunge tubs, infrared lighting, and steam rooms are part of a holistic wellness strategy. Integrating
modern wellness technology with subtle sophistication, they weave intuitive healing spaces into everyday routines. That includes managing air quality, selecting nontoxic flooring, finishes, and furnishings, creating recreation and fitness rooms, and fusing outdoor-indoor living.
“Our homes often feature expansive windows to maximize views of the mountains, providing a direct visual connection to nature and dissolving the boundary between interior comfort and the rugged outdoors,” says Luke.
“OUR HOMES OFTEN FEATURE EXPANSIVE WINDOWS TO MAXIMIZE VIEWS OF THE MOUNTAINS, PROVIDING A DIRECT VISUAL CONNECTION TO NATURE AND DISSOLVING THE BOUNDARY BETWEEN INTERIOR COMFORT AND THE RUGGED OUTDOORS.”

One of Blue Ribbon’s spectacular responses to the instinctive human desire to connect to the natural world—biophilia—is the Summit View home, designed by Reid Smith Architects.
“They have perfected the balance of designing homes that make a statement while blending them into the natural world,” says Luke. “They allow us to create amenity spaces that highlight Montana, such as the Summit View master bath, where our clients can feel like they are part of the mountains from the comfort of their steam shower.”
In addition to its steam function, that shower features dual shower heads with an additional 54 nozzle body spray jets, splashing against honed Turkish marble walls. A freestanding soaking tub anchors the southwest-facing glass wall, affording an astonishing view of the Madison Range’s Lone Peak and Andesite Mountain. Earthy tones in the polished granite counters and dusty grey antiqued lime-stone flooring offer a sense of grounding,

while warmed towel racks and radiant underfloor heat ensure cozy comfort even during the harshest of winters.
Tunable circadian lighting provides a soft glow similar to a mountain sun or moonrise, while automated ventilation circulates rarefied mountain air. The bath suite serves as a restorative sanctuary, inviting a stimulating hydrotherapy session or a nurturing selfcare ritual.
Afterward, bathers can wrap up in a toasty robe and step into the master bedroom lounge area for tea or a chat next to the fireplace or curl up in a reading nook to unwind.
“OUR ULTIMATE GOAL, AND PASSION AS CUSTOM BUILDERS, IS TO CRAFT A HOME THAT ALLOWS OUR CLIENTS TO ENJOY THEIR MONTANA LIFESTYLE TO THE FULLEST MEASURE.”

“We’re just finishing a home with a fireplace in the master suite that can be set to vent outside if one partner feels too warm
when it’s on,” says Peter. “The wife is a big reader, so we found places for built-in bookshelves, and converted a dead area on the side of the fireplace into a reading nook, a mini retreat.”
Summit View’s exterior showcases Chief Cliff Salish stone paired with frontier sandstone sills to accent rough-sawn cedar siding and fir timbers. This combination of materials flows from the exterior to inside the house, tying the home into the landscape and bringing the natural feeling and texture of the outdoors into the comfort of the home.

“For over five decades, we have been bringing dreams to life and supporting our clients’ unique lifestyles and legacies for inspired mountain living,” says Brandon.
Tucked into the hillside just below the Yellowstone Club golf course is another home focused on wellness, as well as on multigenerational functionality. Designed by Kelly and Stone Architects, the Fairway residence features simple, but elegant, master and junior baths. Fostering mental clarity, both are defined with clean, Zen-like lines, complemented by curvilinear tubs, light fixtures, and faucets. Additionally, the fractal-like patterns in the countertops and floor tile soften the space. Rainforest showerheads create a natural cascade down the honed marble shower walls. Radiant heating warms the Bianca Carrera marble floor tile, honed to provide a pleasing, natural surface for bare feet. Any starkness in the linear design is attenuated by the ‘waviness’ of natural materials.
The Fairway home embodies a design philosophy centered around generational vitality—the belief that homes can actively contribute to wellbeing, resilience, and long-term family connectedness.

“The spaces we build today shape the lives, health, and memories of tomorrow,” says Peter.
“Our team loves to build relationships with our clients that go far beyond the construction process,” adds Brandon. “Our ultimate goal, and passion as custom builders, is to craft a home that allows our clients to enjoy their Montana lifestyle to the fullest measure.”
Rather than displaying wealth, the handcrafted details in each of these homes tell a story.

“We are builders, not just contractors. By self-performing all carpentry scopes, we deliver higher quality and lasting value to our clients,” says Luke. “We’re passionate about our craft, and continuing the quality Blue Ribbon’s legacy has been built on for 50 years.”
In creating their own legacies, luxury homeowners are seeking environments that actively lower cortisol levels, optimize circadian rhythms, and provide a daily reset from both physical and digital fatigue. With its technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and industry connections, Blue Ribbon Builders is poised to meet and exceed this demand.
