WHEN TALENTED PROFESSIONALS TALK, WE LISTEN.
Behind every great home are great people who design and build it. Meet Darci Reimund, a designer and general contractor with years of experience leading teams to create signature homes in the West.
Darci Reimund Designs, LLC
Darci Reimund, Principal and Chief Creative Officer
DRD designs and builds remarkable spaces from start to finish that inspire people to live their best lives. They are a full-service, high-end residential and commercial firm that innovates fresh designs through the discovery of new products, building methods, and materials.
Darci collaborates with clients to set the design vision and create well-designed and highly functional spaces that tell a story through layered, stylistic themes and instantly feel “right.”
What services do you offer?
As a truly “soup to nuts” design and build firm, we offer architecture, interior design, construction, and landscape architecture services. This means our clients don’t have to spend their precious time managing multiple vendors to produce a finished product that not only delights them but is effortlessly and stylistically cohesive.
What geographic areas do you serve?
Our roots are the San Francisco Bay Area and Sun Valley, Idaho, but we routinely (and enthusiastically) serve clients nationwide.
What other specialties do you have in-house?
DRD has a full-service design team that includes licensed architects and designers, structural engineers, a landscape architect, and a contractor.
In addition to our design and build services, we also offer our clients bespoke concierge services. For example, we will help track and complete a list of home maintenance to-dos, organize spaces, and we will leverage our network of subcontractors to help with tasks like fixing an appliance, installing art, or repairing landscape lighting.
What is your professional and educational background?
Before I started DRD, I fostered my ability to project manage, leverage technology processes, and continuously innovate to solve complicated problems at iconic companies like Apple, Google, and Intuit for nearly two decades. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California (USC), a Master of Science in Engineering from University of Colorado Boulder (CU), an Interior Design Certificate from Cañada College, and my contractor’s license in California and Idaho.
When did you know that you wanted to be a designer and what motivated you?
My interest in designing and building spaces started when I worked for my family’s design and build business as a teen. My family home was a design-forward blend of antiques, eclectic art, and custom furnishings.
I have since cultivated my signature style through extensive international travel, custom furniture design, and by dealing in antiques. My passion for design really blossomed when I started designing for others. I take pleasure in collaborating with clients to create well-curated and inspired spaces that reflect their lifestyles and personal tastes.
What makes the difference between good design and great design?
Details! Classic principles like scale, proportion, and quality are always top of mind when we carefully refine the details related to planning a space, layering textures and materials, selecting the perfect finishes, and innovating stylistic themes that feel right for each client’s project.

What projects are you most excited about right now?
We are working on a single-family home in Ketchum that has been a really fun, collaborative partnership. The family has contributed lots of valuable insight into their functional day-to-day needs to the design process. And it doesn’t hurt that they love design! We are creating a unique, timeless style through clean lines, contemporary materials, and textures that flow seamlessly from the interior into the outdoor living space. We are confident that the end result will reflect the family’s fun-loving nature, and we can’t wait to add it to our portfolio.
Do you have a favorite sport or recreational activity, and what do you enjoy about it?
My family LOVES to ski, and Idaho’s ski areas were a big draw when we decided to relocate here. We love the fresh air and scenery. My husband and I feel so fortunate to have a shared passion with our teenage boys that strengthens our connection with them. We credit our best ski days with forming some of our happiest memories, making us laugh, and fostering lifelong friendships.
Do you have a favorite season?
Well, winter of course, because it’s ski season, but fall is a pretty close second. The rich hues of the changing fall leaves inspire new color palettes in my work. The contrast between the warmth of the fall light and the crisp nights inspire me to layer on cozy clothing, dress spaces with more texture, and adorn tables with seasonal decor for entertaining.
What do you enjoy most about living and working where you do?
Living and working in the Wood River Valley fosters a perfect work-life balance. The natural environment and outdoorsy, stylish people inspire my work. The easy access to the outdoor recreational activities and a supportive community restores my soul.
What places in the world do you find most inspirational and why?
In Europe, I feel inspired by the way in which old architecture and design can seamlessly blend with the new. On a visit to Italy in 2014, I found myself lost in a maze of quintessentially historic alleys, only to meander into an adjacent interior space that strategically layered old and new elements to create a current, historically aware aesthetic.
