In 1972, Mercedes Huff discovered Jackson Hole on a ski trip. She fell in love with the area and never left. Now, 50 years later, she continues to share her enthusiasm for Jackson with her family and colleagues. Mercedes is an Associate Broker with Huff, Vaughn, Sassi, and is a seasoned ambassador to Jackson.
Over the years, skiing and enjoying the outdoor lifestyle turned into a family affair for Huff. She and her husband, a 25-year veteran of the JH Ski Patrol, raised two daughters in town. Today, her legacy continues through her daughter, Laurie Huff, who is also a partner in her firm. A product of the mountain lifestyle, Laurie began skiing at the age of two and was a competitive alpine ski racer at the national level during her junior years. “No matter the season, I remember waking up in the morning and knowing the day’s activity was sure to involve the mountains in some capacity,” she reflects.
Now a mother herself, Laurie shares the same desire to expose her children to the wonders that growing up in Jackson offers. “The mountains have always been my safe, happy haven—the reason I never strayed far,” she shares. Laurie’s biggest hope is that her two girls can grow up in a similar way that she and her sister and did: “With endless opportunities in fresh air and the utmost respect for nature’s beauty and a close-knit, nurturing community.”
