What kinds of designs and interiors are you involved with? What services do you offer?
Lisman Studio provides a broad range of design services in a variety of arenas. Projects include residential, corporate, hospitality, ecclesiastical, aircraft, and marine. We offer design services that encompass color and material selection, space planning, drafting, lighting, cabinetry, flooring, window treatments, art procurement, restoration and installation, historical documentation, upholstery, area rugs, floral design, antiques, and exterior material selections.
What geographic area do you serve?
Lisman Studio projects can be found throughout the United States, Mexico, and Hawaii. While the majority of Lisman Studio projects are within the state of Utah, we have recently been involved in large-scale residential projects in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and Scottsdale, Arizona.
How do you prefer to work with others on the project team?
At Lisman Studio we strongly believe a cohesive team makes for a successful project. Every part of the design-build team is essential. Collaboration, flexibility, and communication are the keys to a positive outcome. We put extensive programming efforts in place to keep every team member, including the homeowner or client, involved every step of the way. We also update a client’s project information and requests daily and share them with the appropriate team members to keep information flowing
and consistent.
To what level of design do you get involved?
The best time to involve a design professional is at the beginning of the design development phase. This can save both time and money in the long run. Keeping a strong team of professionals working together helps to avoid costly mistakes and time overruns on a project. Lisman Studio’s design team is trained to provide input from the onset regarding lighting and electrical placement, furniture placement, traffic flow, and material selections that are consistent with the architecture of the space. Introducing these critical decisions too late in the process can create a myriad of problems down the road.
What makes the difference between a good house and a great house?
A great house should be an autobiography of the people living in it. The design should feel natural, never forced, and the spaces should be filled with things that have meaning and purpose, usually collected over time. A great house should have an abundance of natural light, spaces for quiet contemplation, and colors and materials that contribute to the wellbeing of the owners. A great house might be small or even humble, but never ordinary.
