What products and services do you offer?
First and foremost we are a title and escrow company. We offer an array of specialized services to a variety of clients, ranging from first-time homebuyers to the most complex commercial projects—always with an emphasis on local customer service.
What geographic area do you serve?
AmeriTitle along with its sister company Alliance Title & Escrow is the largest independent title and escrow group in the Pacific Northwest, with more than 600 title and escrow professionals and 73 offices operating in five states.
How has your field changed in the last two to three years?
After the recession hit, the rules on closing real estate transactions changed dramatically to protect the consumer more. A large part of my job today is having the knowledge to apply the new federal regulations correctly. To be successful in escrow you have the ability to quickly analyze and adapt.
At AmeriTitle do you work as a part of a team?
I am extremely fortunate to work with a team of smart people who really care about our customers. I know I can (and often do) involve every mind in the office.
What part of a project is most satisfying?
Every closing is exciting to me, taking the client on the “escrow journey” if you will. The preparation, the coordination, the communication, all the nuances that involve the culmination of a successful transaction make my job the best.
What is the most poorly understood aspect of your business?
That escrow is just pushing papers around! It is a very complicated and diverse job, and you have to have the knowledge and expertise to be great at it.
How did you get your start here?
I literally grew up in title and escrow. My mother managed a title company and I began working for her when I was 15. When a position opened up in one of my favorite places, I jumped at the chance to move to the valley and continue my career here.
What do you enjoy most about living and working where you do?
Are you kidding? I love everything here. This is where I belong.
What places in the world do you find most inspirational?
I spent time in Nepal and it changed my life in so many ways!
What’s your favorite place nearby to just take it all in and enjoy?
There are so many places—I guess it would have to be Redfish or maybe just my backyard.
