CHUCK CHASE | BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Iron & Timber Co. brings artistry and precision to architectural steel and timber. As third-generation iron workers with more than 30 years of expertise, we specialize in the design, fabrication, and installation of custom stairs, railings and plate work along with residential structural steel fabrication. Whether collaborating with refined homeowners or visionary contractors, our team transforms bold concepts into enduring craftsmanship. With Chuck leading business development, Iron & Timber Co. continues to elevate Park City’s finest homes through experience, innovation, and skill.
WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
At Iron & Timber Co., we specialize in design + build services for all architectural steel. That includes everything from dramatic staircases and railings to plate work and other custom steel features that make a home stand out. On the structural side, we handle residential steel fabrication with a high level of precision. That means foundation scanning, professional detailing, licensed fabrication, and on-site delivery. Whether we’re working with homeowners or contractors, our goal is always the same: to take their vision and bring it to life in steel.
HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR FIELD CHANGING IN THE FUTURE AND WHAT ROLE WILL TECHNOLOGY PLAY?
Construction is one of those industries that has been around forever, but it’s starting to evolve quickly. I think the introduction of AI, along with 3D scanning and modeling, is going to completely change the landscape over the next five to ten years. We’ve already adopted both of these technologies in our workflow because we see the writing on the wall—they’re faster, more accurate, and they make collaboration between homeowners, designers, and builders seamless. In places like Park City, where design expectations are sky-high, I think these tools are going to become the standard.

WHAT PROJECT(S) ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT RIGHT NOW?
Right now, we’re working on a really exciting project in Garden City, Utah. It features not one, but three steel helical staircases, each finished with custom wood treads. Designing and fabricating spiral stairs is already a challenge, but building three for one property pushed our team to a new level. It’s the kind of project where everyone has to bring their A-game, and the end result is as much art as it is function. Projects like this keep us inspired and remind us why we love doing what we do.
WHAT OTHER SPECIALTIES DO YOU HAVE?
We’ve invested heavily in making sure we can do as much as possible in-house, which really sets us apart. We’ve got a CNC burn table for precision cutting, a large vertical band saw that handles the kind of big cuts most shops can’t do, and a dedicated setup for blackened steel patinas. That means we can control quality every step of the way and create finishes and details that truly feel one-of-a-kind.

“When a homeowner or contractor walks in and sees the finished product, and they’re absolutely over the moon, that makes all the long hours worth it. Knowing we’ve built something that’s going to be part of their home for decades is a pretty special feeling.”
WHAT WORD(S) DO PEOPLE USE TO DESCRIBE YOUR WORK?
The words we hear most often are: Unique–because no two projects are ever the same. | High-end luxury–this is our expertise and passion. | One-of-a-kind–because homeowners love knowing their project is unlike anything else. | Modern–since clean lines and sleek designs are at the heart of what we do.
We take pride in being described this way—it tells us we’re hitting the mark and delivering the kind of work people can’t get anywhere else.
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING NEW DEVELOPMENT IN YOUR FIELD?
One of the most exciting innovations right now is laser welding. Traditional welding is strong, but laser welding allows for much smaller, cleaner welds. That means smoother lines, fewer visible seams, and an overall more refined look. For architectural steel, especially in high-end homes where every detail matters, this is a game-changer.

WHAT ARE THE MOST REWARDING THINGS ABOUT YOUR WORK?
For me, the most rewarding part of what we do is twofold. First, there’s the thrill of creating something that’s never been done before—whether it’s a staircase design that pushes the limits or a railing pattern that feels like artwork. Second, it’s the reaction from the client. When a homeowner or contractor walks in and sees the finished product, and they’re absolutely over the moon, that makes all the long hours worth it. Knowing we’ve built something that’s going to be part of their home for decades is a pretty special feeling.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SPORT OR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY?
When I get time away from the shop, I love sailing on my sailboat. There’s something about being out on the water that’s completely different from the hustle of the jobsite. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, and it gives me a chance to recharge. Plus, just like in steelwork, there’s a balance of precision and art in sailing—you’ve got to know what you’re doing, but you also get to enjoy the beauty of the ride.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT LIVING HERE?
Park City is honestly one of the most beautiful places in the West, and there’s a good reason it’s so popular. Every day, we get to work against a backdrop of mountains, fresh air, and a community that appreciates design and quality. People here have high expectations, and we love rising to meet them. It’s a place where craftsmanship is truly valued, which makes it the perfect home for what we do.
WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO AT WORK?

In the shop, classic rock is usually playing in the background. There’s just something about it that keeps the energy up without being distracting. It’s familiar, it’s timeless, and it fits the rhythm of fabrication—steady, strong, and a little gritty.
