Residential renovations are an exciting alternative to new home construction in Central Oregon. A trifecta of regional housing shortages, limited lot availability, and new construction costs is generating a pivot toward reimagining existing homes. Older neighborhoods and established communities are replete with possibilities for updates and improvements to accommodate the range of modern lifestyles.

“I’m called Inspired Interior Design because something will inspire the project, and most often that is the client’s vision, or the client’s family, or why they’re building, buying, remodeling, or need new furniture in the first place.”
–Amy Troute, Owner & Principal Designer, Amy Troute Inspired Interior Design
Clients’ Visions Beautifully Composed
For over two decades from their Portland and Bend studios, Amy Troute and her design team have successfully partnered with clients, architects, builders, craftsmen, specialty artists, and trades to deliver exceptional projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. With a lifelong passion for interior design, solid business acumen, and a foundation of expertise in marketing, advertising, and communications, Amy Troute is a true visionary and influencer in residential design.

The life and work of Amy Troute, Owner and Principal Designer of Amy Troute Inspired Interior Design (ATIID), is characterized by the quintessential qualities of collaboration, creativity, and communication. Every facet of her life is woven into her work as a seasoned design professional—including the inspiration she draws from art in all mediums, even pinecones, tree lines, and the full spectrum of natural light in Central Oregon.

“The crux is doing design better, focusing on communication, collaboration, and results without ego, all while driven by the client’s vision.”

Synergy of Collaboration
Through years of collaboration with experienced partners and a comprehensively honed intake process, ATIID’s approach to renovations is to first evaluate the best of original builds, then selectively edit in alignment with the client-inspired vision. The quality of exterior construction and/or an expertly-crafted installation in an older home, for example, may be situationally worth preserving. Amy is thorough in helping her clients prioritize such decisions. In presenting various options, weighing pros and cons, and evaluating if/then scenarios, Amy advises her clients through the impacts of altering, expanding, or completely revitalizing an existing home. “The crux is doing design better…focusing on communication, collaboration, and results without ego anddriven by the client’s vision.”

Central to the success of residential projects is the synergy between the architect, interior designer, and builder. Each professional contributes a different perspective, role, and skill set in the design, planning, and final build of an extensive remodel or new construction. At the nexus between the architect’s detailed blueprint for the structure and quality craftsmanship of the builder, Amy maintains the big picture of aesthetics, functionality, and spatial flow to ensure the execution of a cohesive interior design.
Synchronized Vision
Inspiration for each project organically emerges through conversations during the conceptual phase: a piece of art, furniture, treasured heirloom, family memory, or simply preferences in aesthetics, style, and feelings to evoke in specific spaces. Amy believes that knowing her client well is integral to understanding and advocating for their needs, goals, and aspirations. “I’m called Inspired Interior Design because something will inspire the project, and most often that is the client’s vision, or the client’s family, or why they’re building, buying, remodeling, or need new furniture in the first place.”
“Every decision that goes into any of my projects was made by the homeowner… and that’s why I do residential design… I’m in your house, I know your dog, your kids know my name; we are literally in this together.”

In addition to increasing usable square footage, opening up floor plans, adding home offices or guest suites, homeowners are choosing to expand and enhance exterior living spaces. Central Oregon living at its finest is lived outdoors in all seasons. The ATIID team is adept in curating interior finish packages with exterior palettes of materials that tangibly reflect the beauty of our high-desert region. As Amy states, “I like to look outside and bring those colors and that texture inside.”
Amy possesses an intuitive capacity to balance aesthetics and functionality; she provides expert guidance in colors, materials, furnishings, fixtures, and finishes. Simultaneously attuned to the big picture and attentive to multifaceted details, Amy’s forte is in synchronizing all elements into a harmonious whole.
Synthesized Communication
In her client-centered approach, Amy believes in robust conversations and active listening: “My up–front, conversational style sets my process apart; I have a thousand questions and (the client’s) answers are going to be considered through every phase.”

Amy is engaged in all aspects of communication with the architect and builder throughout the design and build process. She advocates for her client and instigates team actions through all changes, responses, problems, and solutions: “I hold our clients’ values, guide the process with our team and vendor partners, manage expectations, work within their budget, ensure deliverables are on schedule, and strive to make it fun and easy every step of the way.”
The distinctive signature in every ATIID project is not a designer-imposed trend but rather a masterful composition of the clients’ needs, preferences, and desires; a three-dimensional environment wholistically tailored to the individuals. As Amy emphasizes, “Every decision that goes into any of my projects was made by the homeowner…and that’s why I do residential design…I’m in your house, I know your dog, your kids know my name; we are literally in this together.”

With an impressive portfolio of completed projects in Central Oregon, Amy and her ATIID team have interior designs showcased in Bend, Brasada Ranch, Caldera Springs, Juniper Preserve, and Sunriver. Known for her warmth, curiosity, professionalism, and care in connecting with people, Amy naturally incorporates her creative talent into the place of her clients’ dreams. The finale is celebrating a finely executed design with clients who have watched Amy and her team bring their vision to life.
