Feel at Home
“We don’t just take our work seriously; it’s a family tradition for us.”

As a family-run business for nearly 70 years, Forsey’s Fine Furniture & Interior Design has a reputation for service that withstands the test of time. Owner Jack Forsey shares this dedication, “We don’t just take our work seriously; it’s a family tradition for us.” With a broad selection of quality furniture and full interior design services, Forsey’s has helped generations of clients to feel comfortable in their homes. “Our job is to help our client feel at home. We do whatever it takes to achieve that,” adds Forsey. Specializing in high-quality furnishings from domestic manufacturers, Forsey’s offers their broad selection and deep product knowledge to each of their clients.
Locally-owned and family-owned since its founding in 1951 by Jack Forsey’s grandfather, the company’s commitment to customer service and satisfaction has only grown throughout the years. “We stand by the mantra that Grandpa coined: ‘service doesn’t end with the sale,’” shares Forsey. Rather than merely focusing on the bottom line, Forsey’s commits to how that returns for their clients. How their clients feel supported in the home they want to create is most important. Forsey’s values and foundation are built upon generations of history, and they find it particularly rewarding when they get to reciprocate that experience with their clients. “Our goal is generational retention; there’s nothing more exciting than when we furnish a home and know that we also did their parents’ and grandparents’ homes. That’s really fun,” adds Forsey.
As both a retail showroom and interior design firm, Forsey’s offers everything from shopping for a new chair to designing the whole home. While an emphasis on domestic manufacturing and high-quality products directs their selection (they are also the only Stickley furniture dealer in Utah), they emphasize carrying a wide range of styles to meet any need. “We don’t pigeon-hole ourselves into one idea; we stay open to what’s new and fresh as well as what’s traditional. Carrying a full variety, and more importantly, being deeply familiar with all of our products, is what helps us serve our clients with what they’re looking for, or what they don’t know they’re looking for yet,” explains Forsey.
Forsey’s attends multiple furniture markets yearly to evaluate new products in person, always personally testing products before selecting them for their sales floor. This broadly curated selection provides the foundation for the personal care that brings the home to life. Choosing a single chair is met with the same level of care as furnishing a whole home. “Whether outfitting a piece, a room, or a whole home, it all starts in the showroom. We get ideas of what they gravitate towards,” explains Forsey. From there, their designers go back to the client’s home for measurements and pictures. “Back at the showroom, we do room plans—putting together drawings, fabrics, and finishes to present different iterations. Everything is ordered specifically for each project, and often made to order,” adds Forsey.
Forsey’s brings personal attention to each project, no matter whether a client comes in with an exact scheme of what they want or has no idea at all. “When someone doesn’t know what style they want but know what they want to feel, we spend time with them in their home. Sometimes it takes six months to narrow down, and that’s part of it. It’s important to get to know our clients on a basic level, to understand what will best suit their lifestyles. That takes personal time,” Forsey continues. Forsey’s brings their knowledge of different styles, design, and materiality to produce the feel their clients are looking for, or need help distilling. They use their background and patience to support their clients in the unfolding of the ideas that become their space.

When asked if there are any particular styles that excite them currently, Forsey exudes that it’s the reinvigoration of color that they find most refreshing to work with. “What we’re most excited about right now is the return to color. Now, even if you’re doing a room that’s a Mission-style with heavy browns and oak, you don’t have to buck trends to add color. It’s within the trends to be brighter and have that mix,” shares Forsey. Whereas a gray color scheme had been popular for a while, this shift to more lively accents doesn’t mandate color, but rather, provides an invitation to play with it alongside the client’s style.
Forsey’s recently worked on a parade home for a client that beautifully articulates this combination of traditional and colorful. “On the outside, the home was very Mission, but the interior was contemporary. We got to mix Mission and modern! We got to balance heavy oak Mission furniture with contemporary leather and metal, mid-century modern pieces, and a great mix of colorful contemporary art as well as outdoor scenes. It turned out amazingly,” shares Forsey. With color en vogue, he enjoys that you don’t have to exclusively choose a single style to create a cohesive feeling. There are so many ways to make elements of the home speak to one another.
In applying their extensive knowledge of styles, manufacturers, and products, Forsey’s leverages their expertise to provide engaging complexity while maintaining cohesion. They personally connect with each of their clients to draw out not only what they’re looking for aesthetically, but also how they want to feel. They translate this to a design or furniture choice that feels just right. With a tradition of exemplary consideration of their customers, Forsey’s brings homes to life, helping their clients feel right at home, generation after generation.
