As the mountain modern style maintains timeless popularity in the Mountain West, outfitting the home for luxury function and comfort just got easier with the development of the Palladiom Shading System from Lutron. This revolutionary shading system brings together beautiful, seamless design, automatic performance, and custom styles, according to Beau Johnston, a member of the sales team specializing in large system design, integration, and programming at Eyehear Technology Group. Fine-tuning a system for high-end performance starts early on in the design process, which is why working with a company like Eyehear adds exponential value to any project. “Eyehear opened in 2000, and we’ve been the leading integration company in the Flathead Valley ever since. We have years of experience with Lutron, and recently completed the training to become a certified installer of Palladiom,” shares Johnston. Eyehear not only works with their clients, but with architects, designers, and builders as well to provide a solution for window treatments in any home.
The benefits of investing in custom shading start with a beautiful impression, and extend far beyond their appearance. “Clients come to us for the upfront ease of use and aesthetics. The secondary benefit is that your house stays cooler, and more comfortable, and you use the shades the way they’re designed, because they’re so convenient,” explains Johnston. The style of Palladiom Shading systems offers a solution that is also directly in touch with modern trends. “Where people used to design with mostly wood cabin-type looks in mind, Palladiom is the perfect solution for the mountain modern style, incorporating modern aspects with clean lines and sharp colors,” adds Johnston.
Palladiom lives up to its revolutionary claims with features that set the technology ahead of any other shading system on the market. “Most previous shading systems use a traditional valance to hide the shade, or pocket with the shade built into the ceiling. Palladiom presents a beautiful, engineered shade bracket that is designed to be seen,” explains Don Decock, a representative for Lutron Palladiom. Designed to be a visible feature, Palladiom adds aesthetic appeal to the home, rather than adding architectural challenge and the added expense of fitting in shade pockets. “With tight lines and beautiful hardware that doesn’t look like hardware, you don’t need a wood or fabric conceal that you didn’t want to have in the first place,” adds Johnston.
”Just like no one will go back to roll-down car windows, no one wants to pull a chain for five big windows. It comes down to convenience. With Palladiom, you have the ability to block sunlight, preventing furniture and floor damage, all while still getting the view,”

Palladiom was designed with feedback from designers across the country, initially hitting showrooms in 2017. With six customizable hardware colors, Palladiom can offer any shade material selection in sizes up to 12 feet by 12 feet. Looking sleek at such large sizes, especially when several are combined across a room, is no small feat. “Unique to Lutron is something called hem bar alignment. You can have five windows across the great room, and the shades automatically track to within 1/16 of an inch. With Palladiom in particular, having five shades in a perfect line looks stunning,” adds Decock. With the shades falling at exact heights, the rolls are also designed to match each other perfectly in size, even with two adjacent shades of different lengths. “Aesthetically, this looks seamless, perfect. This is unique to the industry, with the exact tolerances Palladiom has established,” adds Decock.
With Palladiom, a home built to emphasize views can also now perform better. With seamlessly automatic shades, you can design for bigger windows in hard-to-reach places without worrying about privacy or reflection. Matching shades across different windows is no longer a limiting factor. “Just like no one will go back to roll-down car windows, no one wants to pull a chain for five big windows. It comes down to convenience. With Palladiom, you have the ability to block sunlight, preventing furniture and floor damage, all while still getting the view,” shares Decock. Palladiom shades can be customized to any time clock schedule and also integrated with other lighting systems within the home.
Clients can have the exact feel they imagine with Palladiom. “We have a lot of applications where people want sun shade during the day, but room darkening at night. For this we can do a dual shade set-up, that includes solar and room darkening,” shares Decock. Solar shades also come in different opacities depending on the aspect; customizing for north, east, south, and west achieves a superbly balanced feel. “To top it off, Palladiom is the quietest motor in the industry; you know the shades are there without being aware of them,” notes Decock.
“Clients can make simple adjustments like turning a time clock on or off from the comfort of their home. This is a big differentiator from competitors; they don’t need to call to make changes.”

As this is a Lutron product and part of the Palladiom System, clients can easily manage programming adjustments without having to call their integration company. “Clients can make simple adjustments like turning a time clock on or off from the comfort of their home. This is a big differentiator from competitors; they don’t need to call to make changes,” shares Johnston. These features can all be managed from the home or through a mobile app. Palladiom shades can be incorporated into Lutron’s Vacation Mode setting, allowing clients peace of mind when they’re away, by programming their home to match the patterns of when they’re inhabiting it. As part of the Lutron family, the Palladiom System specifically has sleek appearance opportunities for the whole home. “These luxury specific key pads and thermostats have a super shallow reveal on the wall for a clean look, offering a continuous clean and modern style throughout the home. With dynamic backlighting, these keypads adjust automatically to the ambient light within the room, with straightforward, legible buttons and text,” adds Johnston.
With so many customizable features, it all comes down to what the client seeks to achieve. Johnston shares the joy in working on home integration systems and the opportunity to make each home uniquely practical. “I see it as a lifestyle solution, and what is going to work with their lifestyle, for comfort and ease of use. No two projects are identical; we come up with a custom solution for each home,” notes Johnston. Working with Eyehear offers just that, a custom solutions company that incorporates all the latest technological possibilities, in the applications that best suit the client. Palladiom is one such technology with a shading system that brings precise aesthetic, elevated ease of use, and seamless function to any mountain home.
