Letting the Light In
When it comes to striking mountain views, nobody presents them better than Pella. For 30 years, Pella has been bringing the outside in for all of its valued Montana customers and builders. With six showrooms across the state, Pella embraces mountain living. With a focus on Kalispell and the Flathead Valley, sales representative Jason Hatten knows and works with local architects, builders, contractors, and homeowners to provide the best Pella product for projects from mountain modern living to historic preservation.
“The Architect Series Contemporary plays a major part in mountain modern architecture in a direct way because of the nice, clean lines and new contemporary fixtures the windows feature. You have more glass and less wood, letting the outside in.”

Pella’s new Architect Series Contemporary presents beautiful and quality windows and patio doors for mountain modern living.
For spring 2017, Pella has launched an extension of their popular and appealing Architect Series window line to include two new, attractive products for homeowners as well as for restoration and commercial buildings. Pella’s Architect Series Contemporary windows and patio doors honor the sophistication of simplicity in centerpiece windows. Attention to detail means the most for a mountain home, where the view is often the cornerstone of the space. With sleek sightlines and expansive glass, these products provide beautifully unobstructed views. This series was designed exclusively for Pella with the modern convenience of its unobtrusive fold-away cranks.
Hatten says, “The Architect Series Contemporary plays a major part in the mountain modern architecture in a direct way because of the nice, clean lines and new contemporary hardware the windows feature. You have more glass and less wood, letting the outside in—something that is important with mountain and lake views in the Flathead Valley.”
Pella designed all the hardware for the Architect Series Contemporary, which features stunning, modern handles in a contemporary style. Consulting with architects and designers, Pella matched the finishes and hardware so that the appearance of this window and its appeal is practically seamless in design, especially in a contemporary modern home.
“Designed specifically for National Park-type projects and historic preservation, the Architect Series Reserve is a great product for historic buildings and classic, old building replacements.”

Pella’s Architect Series Reserve offers intricate and historical details for restoration projects in the mountain west.
Pella’s new Architect Series Reserve was created for those who settle for nothing less than extraordinary. This exquisite line features Pella’s most customizable products. Enriched with intricate, historical detailing, each window is precisely crafted to your view. From Putty Glaze profiles to through-stile construction, Pella has harnessed the traditional window-making aesthetic—employing the innovation of today’s modern conveniences.
“Designed specifically for National Park-type projects and historic preservation, the Architect Series Reserve is a great product for historic buildings and classic, old building replacements,” says Hatten. “We also work on acquiring historic preservation projects. Our market has old homes and national parks, including Glacier National Park, so the Architect Series Reserve is a valuable product for this area.”
Pella products reflect new trends and styles, which can all be custom-created to reflect any homeowner’s vision.
Hatten is an avid supporter of architects, builders, contractors, and homeowners in his Flathead Valley market. He offers an extensive product availability for all window and door needs with a variety of price points, materials, and features. It’s Pella’s business to offer full-service replacement for homeowners and work with its contractors and builders to find the right product for their valued customers, which also includes on-site visits and consultations.
Hatten reveals, “I’ve had excellent feedback on all the products, and we see many mountain modern homes and buildings in my area. The builders love their products and like having options. The interior designers also love the hardware in the Architect Series Contemporary because it’s brand-new and specifically designed.”
Of course, there’s competition, but Hatten says Pella holds its own. “I make an effort to connect with builders and bring them samples and materials to show them what Pella can offer, and I email existing clients and customers who are building contemporary modern homes and present all the Pella options, and explain how each can work for them.”
Pella supports architects with product offerings, CAD drawing support, and product specifications. In addition, there are Pella education courses that architects can enroll in to maintain their certifications. Pella also supports homeowners, builders, and contractors with an in-house service team along with field technicians to assist in repairs and maintenance of Pella products. In fact, Pella offers a new “limited-lifetime” warranty on all their products.
Pella’s Architect Series Contemporary and Architect Series Reserve window products are popular throughout Montana, especially in the Flathead Valley, and the demand continues to grow with changing designs and appeal in mountain modern styles and mountain home upgrades. According to Hatten, customers adore the look of having less wood, and finishing whatever wood there is and keeping it on the inside. Nothing is pulled off a shelf for a Pella customer and Hatten works closely with homeowners and builders, on site or in the showroom, for consultation to offer specific resources and ideas.
“Pella works hand-in-hand to provide solutions,” explains Hatten. “Pella has always been and wants to go in the direction of what homeowners and businesses desire. With my background as a building designer and over 20 years of experience, I worked with builders on designs as opposed to product specifications, which is valued by all of my customers.”
